Meet Rebecca Reich, LCSW-C
As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) and graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work, I specialize in individual and group therapy with young and older adults with mental health and substance use challenges. With over 16 years of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about helping my clients restore hope and resilience by navigating life’s obstacles more effectively.
I am trained in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and the practice of mindfulness. My areas of expertise include working with adults (18+) facing depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, grief and loss, and life transitions. I also take pride in providing gender-affirming care and support for clients within the LGBTQIA+ community.
In my work, I approach every individual with sensitivity, empathy, and respect for their unique religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
My therapy cat and I will be happy to work with you!
LGBTQIA+ and Gender Affirming Care
When treating LGBTQIA+ clients and providing gender-affirming care, it's essential to create a supportive, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment where individuals feel safe to express their identity and experiences. Bright Transitions Therapy provides care that recognizes and validates everyone’s gender identity and preferred pronouns, and supports them in the steps they choose to take in aligning their physical, emotional, and social self with that identity. We strive to foster an environment that truly supports the well-being and dignity of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Substance Abuse
Treating people with substance use disorders involves a comprehensive approach that combines medical, psychological, and social support. At Bright Transitions Therapy, we provide additional support to individuals already engaged in an outpatient substance use program, or in long-term recovery. Many people who struggle with substance use also deal with additional mental health issues (depression, anxiety, trauma, etc), which often triggers or worsens the substance use. We use the methods of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and motivational interviewing to encourage healthy behavior changes. The goal is to help individuals manage cravings, build coping skills, and achieve long-term recovery, while providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
