Evidence-based therapy tailored to your individual and family needs.
Our services
Individual Therapy
The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of high quality treatment. You and your therapist will work together to create a treatment plan that meets your specific goals. Most individual appointments are 45-50 minutes and meet weekly or bi-weekly. Frequency may decrease over time as goals are met. Some clients want quick solutions to a specific concern while others value finding a provider they can work with in a longer-term therapeutic relationship. We accommodate both of these preferences.
Family Therapy & Parent Support
Bright Transitions Therapy offers support for parents who are navigating their child’s emotional and behavioral health needs. We enjoy working with children because they have the built-in support system of parents or other caregivers. We are available to work with parents on their own to discuss challenges and determine the best path for support. Additionally, we offer traditional family therapy meeting with the parent(s) and child together. We will make recommendations on the type(s) of family therapy that would be most beneficial to you.
Diagnostic Assessment
The initial therapy appointment, or intake, is a complete diagnostic assessment. We will discuss the presenting concerns as well as pertinent history and background information. This will help your therapist to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and determine the best recommendations for treatment.
Clinical Supervision
Tara Mechlin is a registered supervisor with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners (BSWE). She offers both individual and group supervision for master’s level social workers working towards independent licensure. All supervision sessions will be scheduled for 1 hour at the frequency of weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on the individuals’ supervision needs. All supervision will be conducted under the BSWE contract for supervision.

Bright Transitions Therapy is an out-of-network provider. This means we do not bill insurance directly, and all fees are due at the time of service. Most insurance plans offer some type of reimbursement for mental health services. Many plans reimburse up to 80 percent. You will receive a superbill each month containing all of the information needed to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please review our Out-of-Network Reimbursement Guide for assistance with contacting your insurance company to determine your specific plan and out-of-network benefits.
